Three Tips for a Sleep Consultant’s Social Media

One of the questions our graduates ask is, “How do I find new clients and manage outreach with my work?”

We love questions like this and have developed three complete modules to help you develop your sleep consultancy once you graduate from Sweet Sleep Academy. One of our favorite tips for newly graduate sleep consultants is to introduce social media to their business plan! The best part of your sleep consultant journey is today’s technology. You can reach your audience immediately, monitor your statistics, understand who is viewing your content and how they interact with your content in real-time. This is amazing!

Learning how to harness the power of social media is a constant and ongoing process. You’ll have to pay close attention to analytics, adapt your content and style as necessary if you’re not getting the right results, and probably spend some time doing research on how it really works under the surface. Many consultants shy away from social media but if you do so, you’re missing out an a massive opportunity to grow your business, meet other sleep consultants, and just have fun!

Here are three tips for using social media to grow your sleep consultancy business.

Post valuable snippets of information that helps to solve a problem.

It’s okay to share your knowledge. If you’re able to help a tired momma with one issue, they’ll come to you for bigger challenges! We know a lot of you are afraid to share information at first. Many times it feels like you’re giving everything away, and if you do so, why would a client need to come to you?

Don’t be afraid to show your personality.

With the growth of the digital age, we connect with people quickly - three seconds on average! Being your authentic self helps tear down the first barrier of communication for mom’s who may be scared to reach out. This may mean getting over your fear of video and going live or doing a reel, but a familiar face is much easier for a struggling momma to confide in than a stranger!

Engage with your followers.

You’re going to get questions that might take up your time but you are in the unique place to give some struggling mommas peace of mind, and peace of mind often turns into a client or referral. As a bonus, if you’re noticing the same questions coming in, you can add this information to your social media content!

Even more important than using social media is using the right channel to reach your audience. Make sure to choose a platform that feels authentic and natural. It’s important to remember that every single social media channel has a different audience and different style of use. If you’re not comfortable being on video, you probably won’t want to use TikTok or even Instagram with some of the newest changes. If you’re short on time, Pinterest could be your answer. If you love writing detailed comments and posts where you can spill your heart out to your audience, Facebook and blogging could be worth checking out.

When we’re starting out it’s very tempting to open accounts on every single social media platform. Creating content can be overwhelming and you want to make sure you leave enough time in your day to actually work with clients. Go ahead and claim the name you’d like to use for your branding on all of them, but pick the one social media channel that appeals to you the most and start your content creation there. Once you understand the platform, growing your audience, and how the algorithm works, then expand to a second. Starting out as an entrepreneur is stressful enough. Don’t add more to your plate by trying to produce daily content for multiple social channels!
