Learn to help families get better sleep through our responsive approach

Our approach

At My Sweet Sleeper and Sweet Sleep Academy, we follow a responsive approach with an emphasis on setting up healthy sleep habits as opposed to solely focusing on sleep training. While you will learn about many other methods in this program (not just ours) so you can determine the right fit for your business, we encourage our students to take a holistic and responsive approach to sleep.

Learn how to support families with an instinct based approach.

At My Sweet Sleeper/Sweet Sleep Academy, we do not follow a cry-it-out approach or promote a rigid training process. Instead, we focus on supporting families in a way that allows them to use their instincts and respond to their child in the way that works best for their unique temperament, while still making necessary changes.

We believe that babies are living, breathing, very-much-alive blessings from above, not robots that need to be rigidly trained, and because of this, we want parents to have realistic expectations that help them understand the norms of pediatric sleep.

Rather than focusing our approach on sleep training, we provide our students with the education and knowledge to understand what is going on at the root so that can be addressed first.

While you will still learn about sleep training and where that fits in, that is not our go-to approach at Sweet Sleep Academy.

“Thank you for making this process so fulfilling, educational, and rewarding for me. I absolutely love how much I've learned and am excited to move on to the final phase”

How are we different than other programs?

We know that the process of researching programs can feel overwhelming! There are many options out there and we think it is important that you do your research to find the program that is the best fit for you!

When researching Sweet Sleep Academy you will find a few things that stand out about our program…

Our approach is evidence based and backed by research. The curriculum in our program is not anecdotal information and it isn’t information you will find in a quick google search. Each one of our modules includes evidence based information that is backed by research, studies, and experts.

We teach you the importance of a child’s temperament in the process of addressing sleep. No other program has the emphasis we do on understanding the role of a child’s temperament and how that impacts sleep. Unfortunately many programs apply a one-size-fits all to sleep and don’t teach their students about working with children that are overly sensitive or attached (to name a few). At Sweet Sleep Academy we ensure our students know how to work with children who have various temperaments and how to best support them

Our program teaches you how to take a holistic approach to sleep. “Holistic” is a term that is thrown around often, and we don’t mean this in the sense that we are “crunchy granola”, but rather we look at sleep as a whole with many parts. There are SO many areas that affect sleep from a child’s development stage, to underlying medical issues, to family dynamic and cultural values, and everything in between. As mentioned above, our program is not just focused on sleep training babies and toddlers, but instead we look at the whole picture and ensuring we can help parents discover the underlying cause of the issues present.

We have over 15 years of experience! Our founder, Rachel Mitchell, has been a pediatric and maternity sleep specialist for over 13 years and together with her team, they bring over 15 years of experience in the sleep and wellness field. This is not only reflected in the curriculum but also with our mentorship programs and continued guidance after graduation!
