Do I Need a Website or a Blog?
A question we get asked a lot is, “Do I even need a website if my social media is on fire?”
Our answer is simple. YES!
Why?
A website is the heart of your business. This is where you can show off your skills and knowledge, list your prices and services, and people can get to know you and your brand. But don’t be scared: your website should reflect your level of professionalism, it doesn’t need to be extravagant. You want to make sure you have a homepage that introduces your clients to you, an ‘about me’ page, a pricing and/or booking page, and if you want, a blog! You could also show off client testimonials and more.
Your website should be easy to navigate with a clear menu, well written text that offers a clear description of your qualifications and skills, any necessary privacy disclosures as required by your state or country government, and show off who you are through your branding. Additionally, remember that you will probably build your website while you’re on a full screen, but most clients will be using a tablet or phone when they’re looking for you. This means you’ll need to build a responsive website, or one that works on desktop, mobile, and tablet.
Remember your website is basically your future client’s first impression of you and is often the factor that determines whether or not they end up booking with you.
Social media is wonderful and definitely helps you connect with your audience in real time, but people are less likely to hire a consultant without a website. Now is the time to get one up and running!
Now, does your website need a blog?
The short answer is no. The good answer is yes!
Wait...what?
Your website doesn’t HAVE to have a blog. Blogging is overwhelming for a lot of people…especially if you’re not a writer. However, a blog adds extra authority to your website. You can show off your skills, educate your audience through your expertise, have some fun, show your personality, and celebrate yourself as an amazing consultant! A blog also helps your website get discovered in search engines because you’re writing about topics mamas desperately need answers for. This makes a blog a strong and passive part of your marketing and discovery strategy.
If you’re killing the sleep consultant game without a blog, good on you! But if you are struggling to connect with new clients this might be a new way to create lead opportunities.
