5 More Tips for Social Media

Making and sharing new content can be scary! You’re putting yourself out there and you aren’t sure exactly how you are going to be received.

Maybe people will resonate with it and maybe it will flop, and unfortunately, you really don’t know until you actually push the button and take a chance!

I can promise you that there are plenty of times I have put time and energy (sometimes hours) into posts or video content thinking it was going to go viral and after I published it, there was little to no response. That is part of the social media game, but you have to be willing to take the chance and put yourself out there sometimes in order to learn what resonates with your audience best.

Social media has not only become a way of staying in touch with friends and family, but it has also become a way for businesses to launch and market their services and products on a larger scale.

Love it or hate it, social media is a tool that can greatly influence your business and if you use it correctly, it can be one of the most effective strategies to gain clients

Are you still not sure? Here are a few facts to consider:

  1. A new Facebook account is created every SIX seconds.

  2. 300 million pictures are uploaded to Facebook every single day.

  3. The average user of Instagram spends 53 minutes per day on the platform!

  4. Almost 80% of Instagram users make buying decisions based on what they see while on the app.

  5. Two BILLION people use YouTube every single day.

  6. 70% of YouTube users watch videos on their mobile

  7. Studies have shown that people are 31% more likely to remember something they’ve seen on Twitter.

Those are some interesting facts! But what does this mean for you as a sleep consultant?

Well, if you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you know that I always say you need to go where your audience is and it is clear your audience is on social media! So Find the one that best fits your needs. You can use online tools to see what age group and demographic are more likely to use each one (hint hint, Instagram and Pinterest is where mom is hanging out). Social media is also a lot more fun if you are active on a platform YOU enjoy. If you don’t want to be on camera then Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube might not be the right option for you. If you don’t want to post a lot, Twitter might not be right for you. And if your audience is younger, you may not have success on Facebook!

But Social Media can also be intimidating with all the different platforms, trends, and algorithms, so here are five simple ways to utilize social media to help your business

  1. Show up! Yep, it can be that simple! The first step is to show up for your audience whether it is 5 people or 500,000 people because your audience can’t get to know you and your brand if you aren’t present or consistent.

  2. Take it slow. Focus on one platform that you actually enjoy. Only expand once you think it will be beneficial - and only if you want to! You don’t have to be everywhere at once and unless you have a team working for you or all the time in the world it is nearly impossible anyway!

  3. Maximize your social media bio space. This is prime real estate for your business. Make sure it’s on brand, easy to understand, clearly states what you offer, and has a link or contact info.

  4. Be social. Social media should be..social! This means you should like other posts, comment on other posts, respond to those who contact you, and not expect people to just like you because you have an account. The interaction piece of social media is important!

  5. Be authentic. If your personal voice is fun and playful, make your brand fun and playful. Don’t be afraid to show yourself, either. Your audience will connect to you, not just your information!
